With a duet of twin-scroll turbos nested between the cylinder heads, the handcrafted 577-hp V8 of the G 63 is the direct result of AMG's history of racing success. A closed-deck crankcase, sodium-filled valves and dynamic engine mounts deliver pure power with precision.
A paddle-shifted 9-speed puts a 627-lb-ft mountain of torque at your feet, and your fingertips. Quick-shifting, multimode AMG SPEEDSHIFT® TCT technology can also downshift multiple gears, for more immediate response.
From startup growl to unleashed revs, the AMG exhaust is a symphony of high performance. Genuine sidepipes exit via four polished chrome outlets ahead of each rear wheel. Internal flaps can switch from subtle to assertive on demand.
While its engine is born on the track, its permanent 4-wheel drive is at home far from the beaten track. With a 60:40 rear bias and three lockable differentials, it's engineered to match on-road precision with go-anywhere prowess.
The independent front suspension's racing-style double wishbones improve tire contact, while a strut-tower brace enhances rigidity. AMG-specific damping is driver-adjustable. Beefy 4-wheel disc brakes are engineered to rein in massive power. An AMG Trail Package raises its off-street cred.
AMG DYNAMIC SELECT lets you dial in throttle mapping, engine-mount stiffness, shifting, damping and more. One button engages preset modes from Comfort to Sport+, or configure the Individual mode to your own liking.
An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.
Advanced piezoelectric fuel injectors spray fuel directly into each cylinder with exceptionally precise metering, ultrafine atomization and incredibly quick on/off switching speed. Based on the immediate, individual needs of each cylinder's combustion cycle, they can supply the ideal fuel spray at high pressure and with millisecond speed. Rapid-multispark ignition can fire the fuel mixture multiple times in a single cycle, for stronger and cleaner performance.
Dozens of paint colours include gloss and matte options. Wheels from 20 to 22 inches complement body accents in elegant chrome, or dramatic gloss or matte black. With G manufaktur paintwork, upholstery and trim, there are more than a million combinations.
Vertical chrome grille bars evoke the Mercedes-AMG racing heritage. Large intakes feed vital air to the running gear. And a low-profile brush guard, in matte silver, or gloss or matte black, is an AMG exclusive.
Genuine sidepipe exhausts and sizable wheels merely hint at the power and prowess within the G 63. AMG G 63 in designo Cardinal Red with 21-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels pictured above.
Standard red brake calipers bring some visual heat to the powerful AMG braking hardware. AMG G 63 in designo Graphite with 20-inch AMG 10-spoke wheels pictured above.
Available matte paintwork and the gloss black accents of the Night Package make a bold statement. AMG G 63 in designo Night Black Magno with AMG Night Package pictured above.
Integrated with the active LED headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lamps celebrate the iconic G face. AMG G 63 in Black with standard LED Intelligent Light System headlamps pictured above.
The visible muscle of the AMG G 63 offers ample evidence of its all-around capability. AMG-design bumpers feature chrome trim elements, and are sculpted to flow into the wider AMG fender flares. Large, functional mesh intakes in the front apron feed vital air to the engine, intercoolers, and cooling systems for the engine and transmission oil. The side strips on the body are in solid black, with AMG logos in the segment ahead of each front door.
True to the original, the 2020 G is designed to be uncomplicated, uncompromised and functional, shaped and sized to maximize interior room as well as maneuverability in tight spaces. Yet in refinement and detail, the G is brilliantly evolved: Subtly radiused surfaces enhance cabin room while preserving its classic proportions. Advanced LED technology powers its signature round headlamps. Only a handful of parts carry over from the previous G, among them the belovedly precise door handles.
Contoured front seats present an ultramodern dash with the signature G-Class differential lock controls and grab handle. The reconfigurable digital instrument panel unites twin 12.3-inch screens and exclusive AMG readouts. And handcrafted materials abound.
The AMG Performance steering wheel features intuitive Touch Control Buttons and a 12 o'clock band. It can be hand-stitched in Nappa leather or accented with grippy DINAMICA microsuede, carbon fiber, or black piano lacquer.
Supportive, finely tailored front seats feature heating, ventilation and multicontour adjustment with massage. AMG G 63 with G manufaktur Bengal Red/Black Exclusive Nappa leather pictured above.
Supple, smooth-grained Nappa leather is hand-fitted to the seats and head restraints, the upper and lower dash, and the cargo door trim.
The G-Class accommodates up to 68.6 cubic feet of cargo with the 60/40-split rear seats folded. Floor-mounted tie-downs, a side parcel net, and a 12-volt power outlet add to its convenience.
The Cockpit Management and Data (COMAND®) system offers intuitive access to a world of entertainment, navigation and convenience. The central controller falls naturally to hand, teaming an intuitive touchpad with a rotary knob and one-touch keys for major functions. The touchpad responds to a variety of finger motions, including swipe, pinch and even handwriting.
One of the most respected makers of handcrafted high-end home audio, Germany's Burmester® has developed a surround-sound system that's specifically tailored to the G-Class. With 15 high-quality speakers and a 590-watt, 10-channel digital amplifier, the system fills the cabin with pure surround sound while seamlessly compensating for ambient noise. Exquisitely detailed aluminum speaker grilles are as rewarding to the eyes as the system's output is to the most discerning ears.
In addition to the separate left and right temperature controls, a third zone is dedicated to the rear cabin. Along with fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes a humidity sensor, a dust/pollen filter, and an activated charcoal filter that helps remove odors from the cabin air. The rear-cabin settings can be adjusted from control panels in the dash and in the second row.
All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are protected by our New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covering defects in material or workmanship for 48-months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added protection, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty offers continued peace of mind with prolonged coverage tailored to your needs.
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.
If an air bag deploys, your car can automatically initiate a call to Mercedes-Benz Emergency Services, transmitting your GPS-determined location and helpful vehicle information on your behalf. Trained experts are on call 24/7 to help summon local emergency responders to your location. You can also press the SOS button in the vehicle anytime you need emergency assistance, or see someone else who does. This vital service is provided for as long as you own the vehicle, no matter who's driving.
A Mercedes-Benz innovation, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® cruise control uses radar-based technology to adapt your set speed in response to the flow of traffic ahead. If traffic slows down, it can reduce your speed automatically until your path clears. If the vehicle ahead slows to a stop, it can brake to a full halt. When traffic moves, you can resume with just a tap of the accelerator or cruise control lever, or it can resume automatically if the stop is under three seconds.
Speed Limit Assist can detect posted speed-limit signs and, along with information in the navigation system's map database, display the limit on the dash. It can also alert you when you exceed the limit.
When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, ExitWarning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.
With technology that monitors ordinary road markings at most driving speeds, Active Lane Keeping Assist can help detect unintended drifting off-course, and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel. If you continue to drift, it can selectively brake individual wheels to help guide the car back into its lane.
Active Parking Assist can search for suitable parallel or perpendicular parking spaces to either side as you drive by. Choose a space to pull or back into, and it can expertly steer and brake for you. When it's time to leave, it can also steer you back out. In any low-speed maneuver, PARKTRONIC sensors in the front and rear bumpers help detect nearby objects within their field of view. Audible signals and illuminated displays in the cabin help you navigate tight spaces with confidence.
