AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive

An electro-specific development of the acclaimed AMG all-wheel drive system can continuously distribute torque to all four wheels with infinite front/rear-axle variability. Markedly quicker in response than mechanical AWD and virtually weightless, the system can calculate and adjust the torque split 10,000 times per minute. The Comfort mode of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT emphasizes efficiency and range while the Sport and Sport+ modes emphasize driving dynamics with a greater rear-axle bias.

Dual AMG-specific electric motors with boost function

AMG-specific dual electric motors can deliver 617 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. A RACE START boost function can briefly output up to 677 hp and 738 lb-ft. The "permanently excited synchronous motors" (PSMs) feature enhanced windings, actuators and programming for higher rpm, and thus quicker acceleration and higher top speed. The six-phase rear motor is especially powerful. AMG-specific cooling helps maintain consistent response during performance driving and varying climates.

AMG DRIVE UNIT

A set of controls on the steering wheel lets you adjust performance settings quickly and easily, with integrated color displays to confirm your selection. The left switches can be assigned to functions such as the damping modes of AMG RIDE CONTROL+, AMG SOUND EXPERIENCE, and ESP® mode. The right round control knob selects and displays the driving mode of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT.

Active Lane Keeping Assist

With technology to monitor ordinary road markings above a certain driving speed, Active Lane Keeping Assist can help detect unintended drifting off-course, and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel. When using Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® cruise control in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle can normally resume automatically when traffic moves if the pause is less than three seconds. This innovative enhancement can help sense some traffic conditions that require longer pauses, and extend this interval to up to 60 seconds, to make driving in traffic easier and less stressful. In a side collision, where the helpful effect of front and rear crumple zones cannot be applied, PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side is a pioneering system that helps provide a reduction in peak forces. Acoustic Vehicle Alert System

At speeds below approximately 20 mph, special sound generators in the front and rear of the vehicle emit an EQ-specific sound to help pedestrians notice its approach. The sound changes volume and pitch as speed increases, starting to fade above 12 mph as natural rolling noises overtake the need. The system can also emit a widely recognized repeating tone when Reverse gear is selected at any speed.
