Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine with hybrid assist

The acclaimed AMG biturbo V8 propels performance into a new era again. Generating 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque from a modest 4.0 liters, it can rush to 60 in 4.2 seconds and deliver swift response at any speed. Its "hot inside V" turbo location cuts lag and losses. An electric Integrated Starter-Generator can efficiently add gas-free torque. AMG Cylinder Management can seamlessly deactivate four cylinders. Yet even with its advancements, each V8 is still hand-built and signed by its own craftsman.

AMG Performance 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive with 2-speed transfer case

The G-Class features all-wheel drive equipped with a 2-speed transfer case and an extraordinary three lockable differentials, all to help drivers tackle a variety of terrains and conditions. The base torque split is a rear-biased 60:40. With its 9-speed automatic transmission and two transfer-case ranges, the G-Class offers one of the widest spans of gear ratios of any SUV. So whether you're crawling down a steep hill or cruising on the highway, there's an optimum gear for the situation.

Three lockable differentials

As you make your way off-road, three sequentially lockable differentials offer increasingly masterful capability. Each differential can be locked in sequence (center, rear, then front) via a set of buttons on the dash, to help maintain the ideal balance of torque and traction for the situation.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission

Specific AMG programming of the 9-speed automatic transmission delivers quicker gear changes in the paddle-shifted Manual mode. In the Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, the wide range of closely spaced ratios offers smooth, swift response in virtually any driving situation, from relaxed cruising to quick acceleration. Three overdrive ratios enhance highway efficiency. The electronic selector and shift paddles let you control all gear changes with your hands on the wheel.

Timelessly bold, dramatically new

The vertical AMG grille bars and brush guard are both available in chrome and darkened finishes. Wheels range from standard 20s to forged 22s, some available in combination with the AMG Offroad Package PRO and AMG Performance Package.

Easier going in the rough

The new OFFROAD COCKPIT combines the G's traditional differential lock buttons with other off-road controls in the center dash. The multimedia display above it lets you check key off-roading settings and information, as well as a clever "Transparent Hood" virtual view under the front of the vehicle.

LED Daytime Running Lamps

Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps can help increase the visibility of your vehicle to oncoming traffic by illuminating front lights whenever the car is switched on. With long life and low energy consumption, the light-emitting diode (LED) lamps ring the iconic round G-Class headlamps, advancing a tradition with a high-tech approach.

Burmester 3D Surround Sound system

The Burmester^® 3D system pairs innovations in mobile audio with legendary quality. A Digital Signal Processing amp can output 760 total watts to deliver a natural sound spectrum in any music genre. A total of 18 speakers includes 3D surround speakers, exquisitely drilled metal speaker grilles, and an illuminated ceiling speaker. Along with preset listening modes, Sound Personalization can tailor settings to your individual tastes.

60/40-split folding rear seats

The G-Class can accommodate a generous amount of cargo with the 60/40-split rear seats folded. Floor-mounted tie-downs, a side parcel net, and a 12-volt power outlet add to its convenience.

Wireless Apple CarPlay

Wireless Apple CarPlay^® brings its own interface and apps to your Mercedes-Benz. Integrating with your car's in-dash screen and cockpit controls, Apple CarPlay lets you enjoy a variety of apps via an interface that looks and works like your iPhone^®. That's because it links your iPhone and Siri^® to your car, without plugging in a cable, so you can make calls, hear or dictate text messages, navigate to a destination, stream music, podcasts and audiobooks from a variety of sources, and more.

USB-C charging ports

State-of-the-art USB-C connectors allow plug-and-play enjoyment from your compatible devices as well as fast charging of your phone. Providing 15W maximum combined power, the ports are also suitable for data transfer with the vehicle. A 12V power outlet is also provided at the front of the console.

Garage door opener

Three buttons on the rear view mirror can be programmed to operate many types of garage door openers, security gates and other HomeLink^®-compatible features.

Remote Start via Mercedes me Mobile App

The Remote Start feature lets you start your car's engine from the Mercedes me connect Mobile App on your smartphone. In extreme weather, it's a great way to pre-condition the cabin comfort by giving the climate control up to a 10-minute head-start on your arrival. It's part of Mercedes me connect services, and a year of its benefits come standard.

Active Lane Keeping Assist

With technology to monitor ordinary road markings at most driving speeds, Active Lane Keeping Assist can help detect unintended drifting off-course, and alert you by vibrating the steering wheel. If you continue to drift, it can selectively brake individual wheels to help guide the car back into its lane.

Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist

When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

10 air bags

An advanced system of 10 air bags can offer 12-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, front and rear side-impact air bags, dual front knee air bags, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows are standard.

Traffic Sign Assist

Traffic Sign Assist can detect posted speed-limit signs and, along with information in the navigation system's map database, display the limit on the dash. It can also alert you when you exceed the limit.
