2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

Mild hybrid electrification advances the 255-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine. A 48-volt Integrated Starter-Generator allows fuel-free coasting, and can recapture energy during deceleration. It can also supply up to 20 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque for added response on demand. And the gasoline engine is further enhanced with a more efficient turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing CONICSHAPE cylinders with NANOSLIDE walls.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to supply power for some formerly belt-driven components such as the water pump, reducing weight and enhancing underhood packaging. In addition, the electric assist can generate additional, gas-free power and torque (up to 20 hp and 148 lb-ft) for immediate response.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. A range of modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) can alter the throttle response, shift points, steering effort, and ECO Start/Stop system. A separate "Individual" mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting. The AMG Line also adds a Sport+ mode.
