The AMG-developed V8 is engineered for a new era of performance. Generating extreme output from modest displacement, the 603-hp V8 biturbo engine is the most powerful E-Class engine yet. AMG Performance Exhaust System

Internal flaps near the tailpipes let the driver escalate its sound at the push of a button, either directly or via the modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT. The system's free-flow design delivers an audible celebration of power with every upshift, downshift and rev. Computer-control of the flaps base their operation on engine speed and load, to assure full power delivery regardless of the system's sound output.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission

The world's first 9-speed multiclutch transmission is effective, efficient and enjoyable. AMG SPEEDSHIFT® MCT technology shortens shift times and offers quick multi-gear downshifts. A wet startup clutch eliminates the torque converter, improving performance and, along with a magnesium-alloy casing, saving weight. The Manual shift mode, and the Sport and Sport+ modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT quicken upshifts and rev-match downshifts, while Comfort mode can decouple the driveline to save fuel when coasting.

12.3-inch digital instrument cluster

Dual 12.3-inch displays include a central multimedia touchscreen and a reconfigurable instrument cluster in front of the driver. You can select any of four AMG-design instrumentation styles: Modern Classic, Sporty, Discreet and Supersport. Supersport can show extensive performance info, including a racing-inspired upshift prompt for the manual shift mode. Other data can include a warm-up menu, graphical G-force meter, and key engine info including hp/torque output and fluid temperatures.

Partition net and luggage cover

A retractable luggage cover helps keep your cargo out of sight when you're parked, and in the shade as you drive. The cover automatically rises and lowers with the power liftgate, to make loading and unloading simpler. A vertical mesh partition net attaches to the ceiling to divide the passenger and cargo areas. It can be used either behind the 2nd row with the seat raised, or from the cargo floor to the ceiling behind the front seats when the rear seats are folded.

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

Using the ultrasonic, radar and camera-based technology of Active Parking Assist, Blind Spot Assist and the Surround View System, this innovation helps audibly and visually alert the driver to approaching cross-traffic when backing out of a parking space at low speed.
